Soft Sculpture
Not Your Doll
Sewn and embroidered fabric, crystal, pleather, acrylic, and a 1960s elementary school chair
20 x 45 x 70 inches
2015
This piece is the another in the sculpture series of self portraits, a characterization of having nothing interesting to say or having said too much. The mouth area is stuffed with soft candy like protrusions, as well as fluid strands of beads. It has a large leather hat and is outfitted with silk bloomers, a PVC halter, and is embroidered with a variety of felt badges. The long legs are punctured with gold spikes. The sculpture sits on a salvaged “time out chair” from the 1960s.
